6 ripe bananas
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
4 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/3 cup warm water
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 pkg chocolate chips


Dissolve the baking soda in the warm water, set aside. Beat the bananas in a mixer, then add the shortening and beat till blended. Beat in sugar and eggs. Combine flour and salt, then add to creamed mixture. Add water/soda mixture and vanilla. Stir in chips and nuts. Pour batter into 4 greased loaf pans and bake @ 350°F for 1 hour.
